Booking and payment
How do I book a tour?
The quickest way is by phone on +43 650 796 21 20 or by email to [email protected]. You can also send a request on the website. We get back to you personally and confirm the date, meeting point and time.
How far in advance should I book?
For weekends in July and August at least 1 to 2 weeks, in the early and late season 3 to 5 days are usually enough. Spontaneous requests are welcome, we always try to find a slot.
How can I pay?
In cash before or after the tour, or in advance by bank transfer: RAIBA Lohnsburg, IBAN AT05 3445 0050 0437 0615, BIC RZOOAT2L450. Card payment on site is unfortunately not possible at the moment.
What happens if you cancel because of the weather?
Then you get either a free replacement date or a full refund. There is no cancellation fee in that case.
What if I have to cancel?
Please let us know as early as possible, then we will find a solution together. If a guest cancels on the day of the tour, we reserve the right to charge the full price.
Weather and safety
Does the tour run in any weather?
Light rain is no problem, we are in the water anyway. In case of thunderstorms, heavy rain or a strongly rising water level we postpone or cancel the tour. Safety always comes first.
How safe is canyoning with you?
We work with state-certified canyoning guides, tested equipment and clearly limited group sizes. From 6 people upwards a second guide joins us. Before every tour we check the water level and the forecast.
What if I am late?
Call us as early as possible. In most cases we can still adjust, and we will find a solution together.
Equipment and requirements
What do I need to bring?
Swimwear, a towel and sturdy shoes for the approach. We provide the wetsuit, helmet, harness and canyoning shoes. For courses you can also borrow equipment.
Do I need previous experience?
Not for our beginner tours. You should be able to swim and have a head for heights. For the Strubklamm, the Grabenbach and the Vertikale you also need fitness and confidence in the water, the minimum age there is 14 to 16 years.
Do I have to jump or abseil?
No. At every jump there is a way to go around it or abseil down. You decide what you want to do.
Children and families
From what age can children join?
The Almbachklamm and the Gimbach Kaskaden are open from 8 years accompanied by an adult. For tours with high jumps or abseiling the minimum age is 16 years. Canyoning birthday parties start at 10 years.
Do children get cold in the gorge?
The water is 10 to 14 degrees and children cool down faster than adults. The 5 mm wetsuit protects well. Warm clothes and a snack after the tour are the best idea, then everyone is happy again.
What if a child gets scared?
That happens and it is completely fine. Our guides react calmly and without pressure, jumps can be skipped and shortcuts are possible. In an emergency we shorten the tour.
Meeting point and getting there
Where exactly is the meeting point?
You receive the address and GPS coordinates with the booking confirmation by email. The meeting point differs depending on the tour and starting time, so we do not publish it.
How long is the drive from Salzburg?
To the Almbachklamm it takes about 20 to 30 minutes from Salzburg, to the Strubklamm 35 to 45 minutes and to the Gimbach Kaskaden around 1 to 1.5 hours. A car is recommended.
Are there changing rooms at the meeting point?
Most meeting points do not have fixed changing rooms, we change at the car: swimwear underneath, clothes on top for the approach. Toilets vary by location, we tell you with the confirmation.
Vouchers
How long is a voucher valid?
At least 3 years from the date of issue, in practice often longer. The exact validity is printed on the voucher.
How fast does the voucher arrive?
Digitally by email on the same working day, by post 2 to 4 working days within Austria.
Can I change the voucher later?
Yes, in consultation with us. If the person who received it chooses a different tour, for example, that is no problem.
Which amount should I choose?
You can choose the amount freely. If the date is still open, a value voucher is the easiest option. For couples there is the voucher for two people, the companion can be chosen later.
Climbing and courses
Do I need my own equipment for the climbing courses?
No, we provide the equipment and borrowing is possible. For the beginner top-rope course the climbing gym entry is not included in the price, for the taster session and the parent-child course it is.
From what age are the climbing courses?
The parent-child course is for children from 4 to 7 years. From 8 years children can start with the beginner top-rope course, children do 6 sessions of 1.5 hours each, adults 5.
What do I need for rock and lead climbing?
For the lead climbing course you need the completed top-rope course and climbing experience. For the rock course you also need the lead climbing course and good experience in the gym.
How do I pay for a course?
In cash before or after the course, or in advance by bank transfer. You receive the bank details with the confirmation.
