Training for Independent Canyon Descents
In this course you learn how to descend canyons safely. From knot skills and proper rope technique to the hydrology of moving water – everything is covered. By the end you will be able to descend easy canyons independently and safely.
The course runs daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and takes place in the Upper Austria and Salzburg region. The programme is adapted to the weather conditions. You will receive detailed information when you book the training. Course dates on request.
Important
This course is not a canyoning-guide qualification. It does not entitle you to guide people in canyons in Austria, neither commercially nor non-commercially. It only teaches the basic techniques required for independent canyoning.
Course Details
- Duration: 5 days
- Requirements: alpine experience and sure-footedness, basic fitness for moderate mountain tours, strong swimmer, at least 18 years old
- Cost: €650 per person
- Not included: transfer, accommodation, meals
- Participants: min. 4, max. 10 people
- Equipment can be rented or purchased – 15% discount on Petzl, Camaro and Edelrid products

Cancellation: The organiser may cancel or postpone the training at any time if weather conditions do not allow a safe descent of the canyon. If a guest cancels within one week of the date, a fee of 50% of the price is charged. If a guest cancels within two days of the course, the full price is charged.
Your Instructor
The training is led by Fritz Badegruber – state-certified canyoning guide, state-certified instructor for alpine and sport climbing, and IVBV rope-access technician level 2.
